Length: 3,000 words
An ancient book rests in an average pawn shop, hidden in the back waiting for that special someone to open it. On an hour lunch break, the story's protagonist passes the time looking through the selection of books but the owner has other plans in store; urging the protagonist to open the book and play the ancient songs within the pages. Giving in to the old man's pleading words, the protagonist obliges and unwittingly opens a can of worms that could lead to the end of the world.
Power Chords is a refreshing piece of fiction and I like Fowler's writing style. This is my first sampling of the author and I'm looking forward to reading more.
