M.I.A.

A tainted memory.

Once a meeting spot for two souls, alike in many ways, seeking friendship; now it's a reminder of all that she has lost.

"Table for one Madame," said the waiter, tall and slender, he was new and did not know Rachel's past with this table.

"Actually I'm waiting for someone," said Rachel, while scanning the menu, "I'll have a salad and water please."

The waiter nodded and scurried back indoors; she hated that she lied to him but she needed the table. Tommy proposed to her at this table; he is overseas and missing in action.

Word Count: 100/100

The above is my entry in the Visual Dare hosted by AnonymousLegacy. Each week you are given a prompt and must write a 100 word story based on the prompt.

  1. Sparse and beautiful, like a single harp-string plucked and left to vibrate into silence. Lovely, lovely work. Another great entry!!!
