Cataclysm is a rogue-like placing you in a world(loosely based on the New England area) over run by trifflids, different types of zombies, wildlife, and many other creatures and animals. At the start of the game, after picking your stats and traits, you will be spawned randomly within the world. Your task then is to survive as long as you can.
To aid in your survival, there are myriads of houses, stores, bars, and other buildings for you to loot. Break into abandoned houses in search for items that will help you stay alive, or use a house to hole up in for a while(generally not a could idea).
Multiple ways to play!

• Get up close and personal with the creatures of Cataclysm using your firsts or other melee weapons such as mufflers, sticks, axes, baseball bats, and etc.
• Attack from a distance by finding a wide array of weapons including guns, crossbows, grenades, molotov cocktails, and etc.
• Be a hermit and live in the forest by building your own shelter.
• A really fun crafting system. Create additional parts to add to your guns(Silencers and etc.), Cook your own food, Turn brooms into spears, repair your clothing with sewing kits, and much more!

Most people will be turned off by the lack of graphics, but they shouldn’t be. Cataclysm gives you freedom to play the game the way you want to and since the game is in constant development, new things are being added and tweaked everyday. Also the game can be modded(I believe a  little programming knowledgedge is required) and several mods already  exist with add many items and other things to the game.
If you are a fan of zombies, apocalyptic themed games, or rogue-likes in general do yourself a favor and check out this game.
