Cut!

Director: David Roundtree
Writers: David Banks, David Roundtree
Duration: 101 Minutes
Genre: Horror|Thriller

CUT!, a twisted, psychological thriller, which won BEST FILM, BEST DIRECTOR, BEST LEADING ACTOR, and the AWARD of MERIT for AUDIO at the 2014 Independent Film and Television Festival was named by Movie Rankings as one of the TOP 5 HORROR MOVIES of 2014. The film stars David Banks, Dahlia Salem, Sam Scarber, Allen Maldonado and Suze Lanier-Bramlett. It was directed by David Rountree.

In CUT!, the apparent is never the truth as an ex-con and aspirant filmmaker set out to manufacture a film by scaring people for real; however, when it goes too far and someone actually dies, the pair decide that killing for real on film is the only way to make a truly terrifying movie.

I'm back from the proverbial dead  with a movie review. Independent horror movies can be hit or miss and I have watched my fair share of misses over the years. "Cut!" isn't a miss; in fact it nails every single bullet point on my 'great horror movie' checklist. Keep reading below for my full opinion.

Making a movie is hard. That's a fact that Travis Simon(David Roundtree) is all to aware of as he works in the business. Travis has an idea for a killer horror movie that will blow away all the other crap. With the help of his co-worker and friend Lane Hayes(David Banks), they set out to create a film that will provide the ultimate scares.
David Roundtree and David Banks have created an intelligent film with a multi-layered plot that will leave you biting your nails in suspense. When the credits roll, you will pick your jaw up off the ground and watch it again as I did. This time noticing the clues throughout that lead to the finale.

Along the way you will notice some nice cameos pop up that had me yelling at the television; "I know Her!". David Bank's portrayal of Lane Hayes is borderline genius. He is comedic and serious all at the right times which makes Lane an unnerving portrayal.

While I classify this film as a slasher, for me it's not an ordinary one. The plot and David Banks's performance are the stars here that propel this independent horror flick to the next level. It's not perfect though as some of the acting is suspect in parts.

If you are looking for a smart thriller that will keep you guessing till the end then check out CUT!(2014)
